the passionate 1 shepherd 2 to his love
------christopher marlowe
come live with me and be my love
and we will all the pleasures prove
that valleys , groves , hills and field,
woods or steepy mountain yields
and we will sit upon the rocks
seeing the shepherds feed their flocks 3
by shallow rivers to whose falls
melodious 4 birds sing madrigals 5
and i will make thee 6 beds of roses
and a thousand fragrant posies 7
a cap of flowers , and a kirtle
embroidered all with leaves of myrtle
a gown made of the finest wool
which from our pretty lambs we pull
fair lined slippers for the cold
with buckles 8 of the purest gold
a belt of straw9 and ivy 10 buds
with coral 11 clasps and amber studs12
and if these pleasures may thee move
come live with me and be my love
the shepherds’ swains 13 shall dance and sing
for thy 14 delight each may morning
if these delights the mind may move
then live with me and be my love.
我们将共享一切欢乐;
How do I love thee?
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
爱你,就象男子们为正义而斗争;
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
以满怀热情,就象往日满腔的辛酸;
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

I can't tell a soul
I love you
though my heart begs me to.
Every romantic song reminds me of you,
and every time I see a happy couple
I wish they were you and me.
Sometimes I write your name
and stare at it wistfully
as I imagine how great
our lives together would be.。.
but I can't tell a soul
I love you.
I can't even tell you.
I wrote a poem about you,
trying to express the depth of my emotion,
hoping to make you understand
the breadth of my devotion,
but the words were not enough.
I couldn't explain
how strongly I feel about you;
I couldn't describe
the volatile mix of joy and pain,
because I can't tell a soul
I love you.
Sometimes I feel like my need to see you
is consuming me inside,
and sometimes when I think about you
I tremble.。.
my love for you is never easy to hide.
I called my best friend
to explain how much I love you.。.
but the words stalled on my tongue,
and again, I had to pretend.。.
because I can't tell a soul
I love you.
I sat on the beach
and drew a heart in the sand
while I thought about you.
I imagined the joy of being with you,
of simply holding your hand.
I wanted to find you;
I wanted to tell you how much I love you,
and that I would always love you
no matter what you do.
As the tide dashed in to steal the heart
and carry it off to the sea
where it would remain for eternity,
I decided that I can never tell you
I love you,
but I will always try to show you.
