英文简历写作方法指导

许多人的简历上,经常能发现一些常识性的问题。比如在写名字的时候,建议大家用“yang li李阳”这种写法。名前姓后、全部大写加租的写法,符合国际规范,加上中文名,便于中国人阅读。若没有中文,不容易搞清楚考生姓李还是姓杨。

1.名字

英文简历中,中文名字通常都是用汉语拼音。主要有8种写法,都有可适用的场合。

例:

6li,yang

7li yang

8li yang

建议大家用“yang li李阳”这种写法。名前姓后、全部大写加租的写法,符合国际规范,加上中文名,便于中国人阅读。若没有中文,不容易搞清楚考生姓李还是姓杨。

1避免香港姓

面试过程当中,在许多人的简历上,经常能发现一个非常值得大家注意的问题,就是有人用粤语发音拼写自已的姓氏。比如,“王”写成wong,“李”写成lee,这里要告诉大家两点:一是这只是香港人的拼法,并不是国际通用的拼法,二是将来公司为你办护照准备出国公干时,公安局不会批准你用粤语拼音。

2避免外国姓

另外,还发现有一小部分中国学生用外国人的姓,如“john smith”,这也非常不可取。因为如果你用外国人的姓,别人 而名字用英文则很常见,也很方便,尤其是名字拼音的第一个字母是q、x和z,老外们很难发出正确的读音,起个英文名可以说是“reader friendly”。有个叫韩强的先生,名片上印着“john han”,这样,老外叫起来就很方便。但有一点要注意,你的英文名字平时并不被人经常叫,真要被别人叫出来,最不习惯并有可能听不出来的是你自己,在面试时老外叫起你的英文名字,你若无动于衷,那就糟糕了。

英文名和姓之间可以加上中文名,也可以不加,或者用拼音的第一个字母简称。如上例:“john q.han”。对于mba考生,英文名后一定要加中文名的全拼,如“david yang li”

英文名可以起,但必须“光明正大”地使用,不能偷偷摸摸,名字起了本来就是为了让大家叫,如果起了一个不为人知的英文名,可能会把你搞得哭笑不得。

有一个考生给自己起了一个英文名叫“jeff”,还得意洋洋地写到了简历上,寄给了一家商学院,可他却没有向他认识的任何人发布“更名启示”。有一天,他不在家,正好那所商学院打来电话通知他面试:“喂,请问jeff在么?”他的家人接了电话:“我姐夫不在这儿住!”然后奇怪地挂了电话。结果可想而知,他很可能就此失去了机会或造成麻烦。

3双字名怎么写?

中国人双字名很多,如“梁晓峰”,这里介绍四种写法:

建议用第三种,xiaofeng liang,最简单方便。而在简历开头都大写时,可写为xiaofeng liang,大家一看就知道你姓什么,要不然,大家有可能会误认为你是姓肖。

2.地址

求学国外商学院务必要写清“中国”,不能光写城市名。一个完整的地址、全球畅通的通信地址应该是加国名的,但不必用p.r.c.,因为用china已经很简单清楚了。邮编的标准写法是放在省市名与国名之间,起码放在china之前,因为是中国境内的邮编。

3.分清时态:过去、现在和将来

学历分已获、正在申请中和正在学习中等多种情况,如果正在学习,用“ca-ndidate for bachelor in economics in july XX”开头比较严谨,如果已经毕业,可以把学历名称放在最前,如“bachelor in economics”。

4.“个人信息”怎么写

“个人信息”有四种写法:personal, personal information, other information, a-dditional information。无论是教育背景、社会经验,还是个人信息,既可以首字母大写,也可以全部字母大写,还可以全部字母小写。本书推荐的哈佛商学院标准格式是全部字母小写,这在主流商业社会中已沿用多年,“personal”,很简单。

5.怎样表述语言能力

“语言能力”有几个层次:“native speaker of”指母语,从严谨的角度讲,“fluent in”表示流利,“english a-s working language”显得不非常流利,但可信度更高,“some knowledge of ”表示会一些。

6.注意拼写

许多考生的英文简历错误百出,其实不是他的英文水平不高,而是他对简历的。重视程度不够。比如“一present”,有的同学就把present写成president,摇身一变成了总裁,公司怎么会雇用你呢?这种错误往往是计算机上的“拼写检查”功能无法查出的“漏网之鱼”,所以要特别小心。“专业”是“major”,不是“mayor市长”,经济学是“economics”,不是“economy经济”。例如:

以前的工作,加上月份,如may,1998或may 1998,这样的写法自然会显得精确一些。有的中国mba考生则喜欢用“5,1998”或“1998,5” 。前一种写法很少见,只有在实在写不下的情况下才使用。1998,5则是纯粹的chinglish 洋烃帮英语,完全不能接受。

这一点,别人可帮不了你,得自己写。不过以什么样的形式写,我可以给大家一个建议,比如:

五、再接着要写education(教育背景)。

一般从大学开始写起,时间,学校,专业,所获得的学位,还有awards也就是所获的奖项,尤其是特殊奖项等。(注意:如果教育经历不多的话一般教育和背景写在一起,但是如果教育背景或者奖项很突出的话,则可以另列一栏。)

以上这些是必写的内容。还有一些可以有选择性的写,比如:Associations(参加的社团组织),现在的公司对计算机或者外语能力都有一定的要求,所以还可以写自己的Computer background(计算机能力)和Language skills,最后还可以写一栏Personal profile(个人评价),比如:
